Most everyone who’s lived a little has thought, “I should write a book.” You’ve been to war or traveled the world; you have specialized knowledge or a great storyline. Perhaps people have told you just that: “You should write a book.”
Yet chances are, they won’t write it. Maybe they’re lazy or believe they lack the requisite writing skills. Or maybe their thinking is outdated.
Not too many years ago, if you wanted to get into print, you had a choice of two paths: 1) Solicit an agent, who would then try to persuade an editor to publish your book, an effort that, even if successful, can take years; 2) self-publish by investing thousands of dollars for thousands of books that you may or may not sell.
In other words, you either had to invest lots of time or lots of money, or both.
No longer.
Thanks first to POD (print on femand) and second to CreateSpace, you can now self-publish your book at virtually no cost, without an agent, and without intrusive editors demanding “fixes” you disagree with. You are the boss of you.
